Hotel Landhaus zu Appesbach

We stayed at 'Landhaus zu Appesbach' for the 3rd time and it was again a wonderful experience. The rooms are beautiful and when you wake up in the morning with a view at the lake, it can't get much better. The breakfast is delicious and the dining experience overall is excellent. I want to highlight the excellent service and the friendliness and professional help of all staff - outstanding. Spending New Years Eve in a relaxed atmosphere, with a fantastic 5-course dinner, fireworks and dancing 'Wiener Walzer' into the new year was wonderful.

The Landhaus zu Appesbach truly is a hidden jewel in Austria‘s Salzkammergut. The Duke of Windsor once stayed here for 5 weeks and found his ,,splendid isolation“. During our stay we stayed in the Windsor Suite offering ample of space with a combined living and sleeping room, a cabinet, a Roman bath & balcony as well as a terrace. All rooms and suites are individually designed with attention to detail. The country house’s restaurant offered an eccellent breakfast & dinner. The ladies and gentlemen in all departments did a good job in providing a personalized service. Overall an excellent experience. Lovely hotel. We will definitely come back here. The rooms are so cute and the staff are very nice especially the man in the restaurant. Hotel also has beautiful view of the lake. Both dinner and breakfast are superb!!! The mini bars are free although i didn’t try anything. Also we got a very lovely welcome snack tray with different types of nuts, chocolate and plume. The only thing a bit off-putting was that we saw the group in front of us got sparkling wine as welcome drink while they were checking in but we weren’t offered any when it was our turn to check in. We had to ask if we can have them also which we did get in the end. Overall we had a great experience. Better than some 5 stars hotel we stayed at.

Hotel was average in general. The view and place is amazing, room is well heated and has clothes hanging heater. There are a few caveats. The biggest one is if you’re booking through booking website. We booked 2 rooms as 1 person, but we paid an additional fee of 80euros at the end of the stay because we were 4 person instead of 1 as booking website suggested, we were not aware of the fee, and never seen any hotels that ask to pay per person instead of paying per room. We could have appreciated if any communication has been made at the beginning of our stay so we could reconsider our options. 1st floor rooms are not well noises- isolated, we can hear people talking in the corridor very clearly and very loudly. There’s no notice about when the spa is working, it started at 2pm but no information about it except if you ask reception
